Snowcloak was added in patch 2.4 of the A Realm Reborn expansion.
Snowcloak becomes available at level 50 as part of the “The Path of the Righteous” quest, which is given by Drillemont – Coerthas Central Highlands (X:12, Y:17) (Main Scenario).
The dungeon has a minimum ilevel of 80 to enter and rewards you with:
Allagan Tomestone of Poetics: 70
Snowcloak is an end-game dungeon added during patch 2.4. It requires an item level of 80 or above to enter and rewards players with ilevel 90 equipment. The dungeon is found within Coerthas and is accessible upon completion of the story quest “First Blood”, which is given by Drillemont in Coerthas Central Highlands (X:12 Y:17) after completing enough of the main scenario.
Boss Guide
As with most dungeons in the game, there are three bosses within Snowcloak. None of them are very difficult for a decently geared party however they may pose a challenge if tackled closer to the ilevel 80 entry requirements.
The three bosses are called Wandil, Yeti and Fenrir. Below is a guide for each of them.
Wandil
Wandil is the first boss of Snowcloak and is the easiest. The main thing about the fight is that you must kill the Ice Bombs as soon as possible otherwise they will explode for a lot of damage. Later in the fight you will have to deal with two at once so high burst DPS is required for these. If your ilevel is around i110 then bombs exploding will not be lethal unless you are low on HP from other attacks.
An attack called Cold Wave will target players at random for a large ground AoE. This is simple to avoid by running out of it.
Another mechanic to be aware of is called Snow Drift. This applies a stacking debuff on all players, which when you reach 4 will freeze players in place for a short period a bit like what happens in the Shiva fight.
Throughout the fight Tundra will be used by Wandil, which reduces the area that you can use to safely avoid attacks.
Yeti
Yeti is quite an interesting boss in that the main way to damage him is indirect. Kinda like certain bosses in Copperbell Mines where you use other mechanics to your aid. Yeti has a lot of HP and while you can attack it directly the best way to deal damage involves throwing snowballs at him.
You will notice Spriggan Icecutter creatures in the arena. You should not attack them as they are your friends in this fight. When Yeti uses his Frozen Mist attack it will freeze any Spriggans it hits into a snowball. These snowballs can then grow into medium and large ones and can then be fired at Yeti to deal lots of damage. The tank should be positioning Yeti so that his Frozen Mist attack hits as many Spriggans and snowballs as possible because large snowballs deal around 15 times the damage of small ones to Yeti.
The tank should be careful of an attack called Buffet which is a frontal cone that can destroy snowballs.
Yeti will also use an attack called Northerlies which is an arena wide AoE. You can interrupt this by firing a snowball at him.
The only other thing about this fight is that Frostbound ogre type adds will spawn throughout the fight. Unlike the Spriggan adds these guys are not your friends and cannot be used as snowballs. You should kill these as quickly as possible. They are weak enough that the tank does not need to pick them up.
Fenrir
Fenrir is the final boss in Snowcloak and is a familiar face from the Final Fantasy series. He often appears as a summon or a boss and in this game he is a dungeon boss. This is the hardest fight in the dungeon but it is nothing overly difficult.
During the fight Fenrir will use the Ice Shard mechanic which involves pillars dropping from the sky into random locations. If you are standing near them when they drop they will deal damage to you. On every second pillar drop one of the pillars will stay standing and Fenrir will use his signature attack Lunar Cry. This is a highly damaging arena wide AoE that can be avoided by standing behind the standing pillar.
On the pillar drops where Lunar Cry is not used you will have to deal with Thousand Year Ilm, which is a small arena wide AoE. You cannot avoid this so it’s just a case of the healer topping up your HP.
The tank also has to deal with a couple of mechanics. Heavensward Howl is one of which. This is a frontal cleave attack that deals a fair amount of damage. Ecliptic Bite is another attack that deals a decent amount of damage. Neither attacks are lethal but if you are low on HP they can be.
