Greetings, everyone!
Last weekend the team took a trip to Fukuoka, Japan for the Kita Kyushu Pop Culture Festival 2016, otherwise known as KKPCF2016 (Try saying that 10 times fast!)! Just as the name implies, this is a gathering to celebrate and share pop culture from around Japan, and more than 100,000 people were in attendance!
Let’s take a look at what kind of presence FFXIV had at the show.
The FFXIV booth drew quite the crowd!
There was a lot of great artwork placed in front of the booth space to welcome attendees, including the Stormblood artwork that was revealed at Fan Festival 2016 in Las Vegas.
â– Battle challenge
Though slightly different from the roulette that many are used to, the battle challenge area still featured an aspect of luck, and attendees had to roll a large die to determine if they would face off against the hard version of Ifrit, Titan, Garuda, Leviathan, Ramuh, or Shiva.
Attendees were handsomely rewarded with an “I Beat Ramuh” t-shirt for emerging victorious from a fated battle against a randomly chosen primal.
Well, color my beard purple!
Foxclon was also in attendance and cheered attendees on who participated in the battle challenge.
â– FFXIV for starters
For those new to the game, the team explained about the lore and world of FFXIV before they jumped in to give it a try.
Afterwards, attendees could pull up a chair and make a character, listen to a lecture about battling in FFXIV, and then try a battle against Ifrit–the story version, of course! Even though there were many new to the game, everyone emerged victorious. The number of up and coming Warriors of Light was staggering! All of the character data was placed on USBs for everyone so they could take it home and continue the adventure with the characters that they made.
â– Merchandise area
Those hungry for merchandise were welcomed with an assortment of items to purchase, and it’s no surprise that everything sold out!
A Lalafell and Roegadyn joined the show as well, and it was their first time making an appearance at an event outside of the Kanto area.
And speaking of other areas, there were many who travelled quite the distance to attend the show. Truly dedicated Warriors of Light! Even brave, young Warriors of Light joined as well!
The two days of the show were a blast, and it was great to see so many people enthusiastic about pop-culture and FFXIV!
The team is looking forward to the next opportunity to mingle with our awesome Warriors of Light!
